  1. This site gives you a good overview of the US process of applying to medical school:  http://people.howstuffworks.com/becoming...

You would also benefit from visiting this web site:  http://www.aamc.org/

As a nonresident, you will pay almost twice the tuition cost of a resident student if you apply to a state university medical school.  Everybody at a private medical school pays the same tuition--but that's high, too.

As a non-citizen, you won't be able to get the types of loans the US students are eligible for and you will need a US citizen to co-sign on a loan for you.  By the time you would finish your education and training, it's almost a certainty that you will be close to $250,000 in debt.

If you were to remain in the UK and complete all of your education and training there and then come to the US, you will need to pass the USMLE in order to be licensed.  That last two exams won't be difficult for you at that point, but the first one, which is all science, is the number one reason why foreign trained physicians are unable to pass the exam.  Some due to their country placing less emphasis on the sciences and for others because they studied the basic sciences several years earlier and haven't retained everything.

  2. I work for Dartmouth College, which is an Ivy League school in New Hampshire. You can access their website at www.Dartmouth.edu.  The hospital that the students train at is called Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, which is ALWAYS hiring, it is the second largest employer in the state. They have an amazing benefits program and pay very well. You can search and apply for jobs at their website www.dhmc.org. New Hampshire is a beautiful place to live!

  3. The med school admission process in the US is extremely competitive. In general, about 44% of applicants are accepted to a US medical school, but the acceptance rates at the top schools are more like 5-15%.

I'll link you to some sites that will help you figure out the application process. In general, you'll need to take the MCAT exam, and to have completed certain classes as pre-requisites to applying.

  4. Hmmm try the University of Cleveland
