The class will be divided into groups of 4-5 students. Each group will create a story using medical terminology from the first seven chapters of the text. The assignment will be counted as 4 points of the overall midterm grade. Each student will be required to submit a paragraph consisting of ten medical terms. Communication between group members should take place in the discussion area and is part of the assignment. The following is required to complete the assignment:

During orientation students will join a group in one of the assigned names listed below. The group names below signify which group you are in on the discussion board.

Once in groups students will decide and sign up for a particular week to submit their assignment. One student in the group will enter this information on the discussion board before leaving class.

Individual group members must submit ten medical terms. They can all be from any of the first seven chapters. Each student will need to use different terms so that none are repeated.

The assignment is submitted by the due day that you have signed up for during orientation. Please signify the medical terms you are using by underlining or using bold. Follow each term with its definition in parentheses and put your name at the end of the paragraph.

Example: George Clooney once said in an interview “I like to impress people by saying supraventricular tachycardia (fast heart rate originating above the ventricles of the heart) even though I have no idea what it means.”

This assignment is part of the midterm grade therefore must be completed before the midterm is taken. Late submissions are not accepted.

By the day of the midterm I should be able to view the completed story for each group on the discussion board. Full credit will be given if the correct use of ten medical terms is used within the context of the group story.
