Medical vs. Dental school?

Compared to medical school, how is dental school in terms of

a) competition to get in

b) difficulty and amount of stress

  1. a) Medical school is more competitive, but dental is starting to become very competitive as well. While medical school is a bit harder to get into, and requires additional prerequisites that dental doesn't, dental school is still very difficult to get into given that there are less than 60 schools in the the country who only accept an average of 60 students a year.

    b) I think both schools are probably ridiculously stressful. However, I have heard that medical residencies are HORRIBLE. Supposedly you work a TON and get paid almost nothing during those years. This is one reason I chose to pursue dental school instead. But for both medical and dental school I have heard that the it will basically be the worst 4 years of your life. (But it'll be worth it in the end! Good luck!)
