What exactly causes the callouses on our bodies (feet, elbows and hands)?

Is it the collection of blood particles at the specific points because of friction or is it the torn skin fibers at those points?

  1. Over worked segments of skin will get them because of the constant trauma they get. A bit of moisturizer softens them up and may get rid of them.
