  1. Actually, Medicare does not cover prescriptions. For prescription coverage you must get a Part D plan provided by a private insurance company. The Part D plans are regulated by Medicare and you must have either or both Parts A or B to get on a plan.

    There is way too much information about Part D plans for this forum and there can be a big difference between plans. For more information you should contact a local agent that works with all the major plans in your area. The agent can explain how Part D works, such as the coverage gap (donut hole) and the deductible, and can find the best plan for you.
