  1. I quit cold turkey with no medical supervision.

I had a lot of support, but it was difficult.  It took a few months for me to come out of the fog and feel like a normal person.

Make sure you have a good support group right now and good coping mechanisms.  You'll need them.

    Good luck.

  2. I am so sorry that some idiot doctor put you on a drug like this at your age, and very glad to see you are trying to get off it. You will feel a little weird until your body adjusts to the lower dosage. Give it a month to see the adjustments. Meanwhile, get out in sun every day you can for at least 15 - 20 minutes, and fresh air. Also exercise every day you can for at least 20 minutes if possible. The best scenario is to take a walk in the sunshine every day. If you can, find a local agency to do volunteer work one day a week even if it is for an hour or two - walking the dogs at a local shelter is good ( would get some walking in for you too). If you get outside of yourself and help others this will help. Watch what you are eating and absolutely avoid caffeine, too much sugar, anything too processed or with a lot of food coloring, etc. and alcohol or other drugs. Be careful if you are taking any herbal products as well, a lot of them don't mix with prescription meds. Best of luck and even though it will take some time, you are doing the best thing you possibly can for your body and mind. Taking any antidepressant for a long period of time can permanently change your brain's chemical balances.

  3. Because you have been taking an anti-depressant for several years, your brain has become accustomed to having your serotonin levels at a certain place. It will take time for your brain chemicals to adjust to not having the same drug in your system. Just as it takes time for the medication to build up enough serotonin to work, it takes time for it to level out as well.

Continue to follow your doctor's orders in decreasing the mg each week or month (or whatever he/she suggests) I would think it would take appx. 4 weeks to a month to level out...maybe longer.

Just be careful in noting your withdrawal symptoms so you can discuss them with your doctor. These are dangerous drugs if not monitored well.

  4. i've never been on zolof. i have been on antidepressents. i got off of one medication this summer. it took a couple of weeks, maybe two or three for all the withdrawls to go away. hang in there. one reason why you might be sweaty is because in the back of your mind you're worried. it's scary to come off of a medication. hang in there!

  5. It does sound like you're experiencing symptoms of withdrawal.  Unfortunately it's hard to say how long those symptoms will continue.  Some people are lucky enough to get through it quickly, and others have the misfortune to be stuck with these symptoms for quite a long time.

I read an interesting tip recently: if you continue to have withdrawal symptoms once you're completely off the meds, your doctor might be willing to prescribe you some liquid prozac.  Then you can reduce the dose by a millilitre per day (or per week, or whatever works).  It can help to relieve the symptoms and bring you down slowly.  But of course it should only be done on a doctor's advice.

  6. you are having withdrawal reactions to less medications going into

your system. Ask your doctor about these symptoms. It is different

for each body as to how long this will last. Drink plenty of liquids and

eat a good diet exercises and walk to reduce the anxiety you will

feel as this dosage decreases. Keep telling yourself you will not feel

this way forever and embrace it so you can deal with the problems

with reducing the medication. Try some new hobbies to keep your mind

off the worrying. talk to your doctor as soon as possible. Ask every

question you can think of about your medication. This is your body

and you need to have all the answers.

  7. maybe take a natural antidepressant while tapering off

omega 3 is also taken for depression and bipolar

check this website www.curezone.com, it has success stories and may help

    good luck
