I think that I have developed a heat rash.It itches, but I'm not scratching. I also called my OB, she said Benadryl and Hydrocortisone Cream. I have used the cream just know. But is it really safe to take liquid benadryl? I got the children's kind.

  1. one benedryl is fine

  2. Yes, it should be fine. Maybe take 1/2 dose and start there. See if that alleviates symptoms.

  3. I think she probably meant the topical benadryl cream, not an ingestible form.  But if it's a heat rash it won't do any good anyway since benadryl is only effective for an allergic reaction.

  4. Benadryl is catagory B for pregnancy. That's as safe as it gets. (Tylenol is catagory B.)

  5. Benadryl is fine during pregnancy.

  6. the reason the OB suggests those meds is because they don't cross the placenta.  anything they tell u is ok won't even go near your baby.  good luck... hope the rash goes away!!

  7. Yeah, I would say that would be fine.  I've taken Benadryl for adults...so I'm sure the children's is even better.
