I just got back from the vet with my cat and she had a very bad case of ear mites. They gave me a cleaning solution that I have to use twice a week and gave be an antibiotic gel and pills. They also recommended Advantage multi. Is there anything that is like the advantage multi that is a little cheaper that would work at preventing the ear mites?

  1. the great theing about advantage is that it helps with several things ... heartworm in cats (which is starting to become a problem), ear mite control and fleas (which almost always gives cats anemia).

tresaderm is a mite medication.  if you just want to treat the problem at hand go with this medication, but i think in the long run go to Bayers website and see if you can print a coupon for the advantage multi and keep your cat on it

  2. also Revolution does the same thing

  3. Yes, Revolution has many features:

    -prevents heartworm

-kills fleas and prevents eggs from hatching

    -treats and controls ear mites

    -controls hookworms and roundworms

I have used it on my cats.  I honestly can't recommend it solely on treating ear mites, my cats did not have them when I used it, but I think its a good product.  At my vet, it costs around $13-14 for a single use.  A 3 pack is about $40.  You can also find it online.  Be sure your kitty does not have heartworm though.  It is dangerous to give them a preventative if they have it.  Good luck!
