Is there Medicine that helps break up kidney stones?

  1. Sadly no. However, there are medications to help you pass them, and forms of surgeries that can break them down to help you pass them as well.  Your best bet is to see a Urologist, and see which method is right for you.  They can be painful, large, or even lodged...that is why some don't pass as easy as others.  I know that you can have them removed with a small incision, or even be put in a "shock" bath which breaks it down into smaller stones.  Best of luck.


  2. One of my friends had kidney stones, stayed in hospital for a week and was told by the doctors to drink, drink and drink as much as he could. He managed to avoid surgery by drinking lots and lots of water. If you drink enough water ( I think it was about  4 or 5 liters/day), the stones will pass by themselves although  it may be painful but at least you'll avoid surgery.

    Otherwise they can be removed by laser.
