Medicine premajor at the U of MN, Twin Cities?

What exactly is this? If I apply for this, when will I get my major? I don't really understand, like when I finish with my first 4 years, will I have a major in medicine, or will I be major-less and have to continue it in med school? I'd like to get into med school and work towards becoming a pediatrician. Thanks!

  1. Basically if you major in Pre-med, you get a premed degree, which is worthless. You won't be a doctor, nor will it make you more likely to get into medical school. Med schools like to know that you have a back up outside of medicine, they don't like people who are desperate or overconfident. Take a biochem degree, its super helpful on the MCAT.
