I have some generic nighttime allergy medicine that came from Walmart. It makes you drowsy. If I took it as directed, how hard would it be for someone to wake me up?

  1. If you have someone waking you up it should be no problem. I don't know the medicine or what chemicals are in it. I have to take alot of medicine that is supposed to make me tired, but I have someone that wakes me up. Also I take Zyrtec for my allergies. The bottle says it can cause drowsiness, but it does not effect me that way. There again different meds can effect people different. This is about all I can tell you without knowing what you are taking.

  2. It's easy for someone to wake you up.

Alarm clock that's a another thing, I woke up turned my alarm clock off and went back to sleep and when I woke completely  I couldn't remember doing it, Was 30 minutes late for school.

I was dazed and confused, try explaining that to school Secretary etc. I sleep walked and turned my alarm off and went back to sleep.

  3. there's a difference between making one Drowsy and Sleepy.  Being drowsy you'll be awoke but not fully conscience.  Sleepy you will be asleep.  Depends on your tolerance for the meds.

  4. Most of these drugs make you sleep cos they make you drowsy.

My best advice is to make sure someone knows you have taken one.  In that way if there is an emergency that someone could get you out of the trouble.

If it is sleep that you need and can't get.  Try and keep awake and fight it and you will fall asleep with exhaustion.  If this does not work then do not go to bed until you are tired.  Do cross words anything that is boring to you.

  5. OTC allergy & cough medicines contain an ingredient that makes you drowsy.  The reason being the active ingredient is diphenhydramine, which is an anti-histamine.  Anti-histamines cause systemic blockade of histamine.  You wouldn't have as much difficulty waking up after taking an allergy medicine as prescription sleep aids, such as Ambien CR and Lunsesta.
