Medicoe set to trounce opponents in Book Tickets Online At wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Nursery at Wolverhampton
Medicoe looked a battler, when suited by seven furlongs at Catterick recently. Displaying a lot of attitude, Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s charge notched up the first place with ease in the Irish Stallion Farms E B F Maiden Stakes on August 7th.
The conditions are slightly different at Wolverhampton, but still Medicoe has an obvious chance of carrying forward his good work to win the Book Tickets Online At wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Nursery, taking place on Monday, August 13th.
The 2-year-old was awful on his debut at Ripon in June. He made a couple of fine efforts at York, but could not open his account. Luck finally smiled on him at Catterick, where he stepped up to seven furlongs in the hands of Luke Morris. An outstanding finish
helped him grab the glory by two and a half lengths.
After a comprehensive win, the confidence son of Medicean is in a great position to crush the likes of Royal Steps and Wellingrove in a tough competition today. The class 4 meeting is due to get underway at 20:10 GMT. A cash prize of £4,205 will go to the
successful runner.
Royal Steps also looked quite solid on her previous outing. After a couple of unlucky rides at Newmarket, she raised her game to seize the runner-up spot in Nottingham’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes at the start of this month.
James Tate’s trainee showed plenty of promise over six furlongs, and an extra furlong at Wolverhampton would be a huge advantage for her.
Wellingrove is another to watch out for. The Mark Johnston-trained could not produce a positive result last time, but his start was pretty impressive. The two-year-old raced freely in the beginning and soon led, crossing to inner.
However, he got weakened in the final stages and as a result, ended up 11th
in the BCL Burton Copeland / British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden Stakes at Sandown. An equally good start can make him a real threat to the aforementioned pair.
Although there are many cases to be made, Medicoe looks guaranteed to be suited by this distance, and should be preferred. Good luck to all the runners.
