Question:

Medieval or Warhorse Games/Trials in my area?

I live near Atlanta, GA and I have a horse who is perfectly suited for these types of events. I also have a filly who I am considering training specifically for this kind of thing, and I want to find out if it's the direction I want to go. Most of these are hosted in WA or somewhere out West, and I was curious if any of you knew of any that would be coming within a few hours of Atlanta, or are based within a few hours of here.

Thanks so much!

  1. you need to look up the SCA (society for creative anachronism)and find the region you are in (meridies region is georgia) or you can write to "equestrian@sca.org and ask the society equestrian officer if there are any events in your area.

i should add that most of them in my area use a spanish saddle for their horses (it closely resembles a 17th century saddle) some of the "ladies"ride with a side saddle.

  2. Here is the contact information for your area:

    Georgia:

    Kingdom of Atlantia

USA: Maryland, District of Columbia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Augusta, Georgia

    Website: http://www.atlantia.sca.org/

    Kingdom of Meridies

USA: Alabama, almost all of Georgia, a bit of the panhandle of Florida, most of Tennessee, and parts of southern Kentucky (Allen, Barren, Calloway, Logan, Simpson, and Warren counties).

    Website: http://www.meridies.org/

Here you can find additional contact information for people in the know!
