Mediocre restaurant food quality?

why are the residents of palm springs california so complacent with such mediocre restaurant food quality? Judging by the size and girth of the people I have seen there, you would think they would be far pickier when it comes to the quality of the food, not just the quantity of the food.........Has anyone else noticed this as well??
