Hello, im a novice psychic,I Watch T.V and Meditate, when i watch T.v, im just focused on the show and thoughts don't come and bother me like i do when im not watching t.v, will the meditation still be effective? in relaxing and enhancing my awareness? If i take a nap like for 10-20 minutes, can that be a substitute for real meditation, 'cause sleeping in deep meditation...if i take naps, is it the same? Lol, How do we breathe im confused? Through my nose out my nose? through my nose out my mouth? From the chest of my stomach, does it make a difference?

  1. OK,

Watching TV isn't meditating it's "Zoning Out".  This is like when you get to that blank space when you are thinking of nothing.  Which is usually the exact moment when someone asks you what you're thinking.

A nap is a break in meditation.  Even if it is good for your body by reducing stress, your aim of meditation is focus for your mind.  If you sleep, you're in your unconsciousness.

Breathing:  In through the nose and out through the mouth is customary.  This way the air is cleansed by your nose before it gets to your lungs.  And it creates a continuous circuit.  You always breath from the diaphragm.  Your stomach and chest muscles can assist you but the diaphragm is what empties your lungs.  I recommend measured breaths.  A few slow deep breaths, then pause and back to deep breaths.

It isn't a bad idea that before you get into meditation to cleanse your chakras and aura, that way you can understand the communication you receive and not just see it as a jumbled mess.

  2. Hello Mr.Therapy

Watching TV is relaxing & not meditation. Meditation is a single minded focus on an object of one kind or another.

Sleep, again is relaxation & not a substitute for meditation.

When you breath from the stomach you massage the internal organs, so better from a health view. But for the beginner it is far better to be aware of the bodys natural breath pattern & to relax with that than to confuse with differnt methods.

If the breath is to be your focus you can either focus on its sound, or on the sensation it creates in your body - lungs, nose etc or it passage in and out of your body. You can also visualise the breath - white light in, darker colour out.

Guided meditations are good for psychic development, chakras are worth finding out about via meditation as well.

  3. I was taught a little concentration technique that helps me.  First turn off all TV's and the like.  Find a nice quite place and try to visualize  your whole body as if it was a glass body full of water.  The water in the glass needs to be changed from a hole in the bottom, your feet.  Let the water drain out, taking all the bad things and distractions with it.  Let it swirl out and drain away.  Once it is gone, let new clean water come in from your feet.  It may help to think of the old water as being brown and dirty and the new water as clear or blue.  When you are full of clean water, you are ready to move on with further mediations.

This has helped me, it's almost like a self hypnosis thing.
