Meet Me Halfway having decent claims back on turf in Leicester’s Aston Flamville Fillies´ Nursery
Meet Me Halfway, who suffered an unlucky loss under a penalty recently at Kempton, is geared up to get better despite a 2lb rise back on turf. In the hands of Ted Durcan, the Chris Wall-trained will look to put her journey back on the winning ways in the
Aston Flamville Fillies´ Nursery, to be hosted by Leicester on Monday, September 24, 2012.
Meet Me Halfway made a few terrible outings at the start of her career. She finally started producing good results in mid August, when missing the gold medal only by a length at Lingfield.
Owned by Des Thurlby, the bay filly maintained the standards afterwards, and recorded her maiden triumph at Wolverhampton at the end of last month. Under her regular jockey, the 6-1 chance took a wonderful start to put the rest under massive pressure.
No mistake was made on her part in the middle stages and with the help of a strong finish, she ensured the top rank by a length’s distance in the 32RedPoker.com Nursery.
After getting off the mark, the Stratford Place Stud And Watership Down-bred continued the fantastic work, and ran superbly under a penalty at Kempton.
The Eventmasters.co.uk Nursery saw her finishing second to Cappadocia just by half a length. Ridden by George Baker, the daughter of Exceed And Excel stayed on well in the final stages, but could not challenge the leader.
Despite a 2lb rise, the filly is likely to perpetuate her fine work. A total of 13 horses will try to stop Meet Me Halfway from grabbing the glory today. The class 5 meeting is due to start at 15:00 GMT. The going is good to soft for the 5f218y event, which
carries a handsome prize worth £2,588.
Pira Palace can make things tricky for Meet Me Halfway. Yet, it would be a herculean task for the 2-year-old, as luck is not on her side these days. Sir Michael Stoute’s charge needs not only an impeccable run, but also a slice of luck to thrive.
It is hard to rule out an upset in the field of 14, but Meet Me Halfway is undoubtedly the best betting option. We wish the best of luck to all the horses.
