Meeting between Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay and QB Peyton Manning seen due anytime – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Peyton Manning, and his employer, Colts owner, Jim Irsay, are now any time due to face each other and the meeting, which is expected to be a possibility in the near future, will determine their respective future courses.
Reports in some sections of media had earlier hinted at the possibility of Irsay being interested to seek delay in the proposed meeting.
This may not be well true in the wake of fast approaching deadline of March 08 of optional bonus payment to the quarterback.
Even if he decides against the payment he is most likely to discuss all the pertaining matters relevant to the future of the player and his franchise.
There is a possibility that he seeks an extension in the deadline and in that case he will be keeping his cards in front of the player to convince him agree to his proposed terms including an extension.
Peyton Manning has missed the entire 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season due to his neck injury and there is no confirmation now either that he will be able to play next (2012) season.
This is the point that the owner has been pondering upon and has expressed it open at a number of occasions.
According to Irsay his final call on the player’s future will be down to his health and he will refrain from taking any step that has long-term repercussions for the player and his team.
Irsay has emphasized his point despite that all the stakeholders have expressed their dire desire to see Manning to be back to the Indianapolis in the future.
His family, friends, teammates and football community as a whole has expressed their optimism that Peyton Manning will play for Colts for more seasons to come.
Irrespective to the owner’s health reservations, Peyton’s doctors have cleared him to be able to play professional football again without any problem.
One thing missing in all those assurances and ambitious hopes is the timeline for recovery of the player from his neck surgery and this is something that is probably on the mind of his employer to be more relaxed about taking a final decision.
In addition, a number of reports have claimed that Colts have already made a decision about the quarterback and that is to move beyond him.
The owner has denied all those reports and claimed Peyton is still a Colts. He at the same time did not disclose his options about his future.
Now with Super Bowl being over, a meeting between the two parties is due at any time now.
This is expected to end all the uncertainty and controversies around the relationship between Irsay and Manning and it is possible that both sides might be on good terms once again.
