Meeting of Italian Fencing Federation with Organising Committee of 2011 Catania World Championships
The Italian Fencing Federation and Organising Committee of the 2011 Catania Absolute Fencing World Championship held a meeting today on some issue of various services that were to be provided during the fencing championships in all categories in October
2011.
Sicily and Companies, who were winners of the tenders for the various services, also attended the meeting. The Federal President George Poor, the two vice-presidents, Andrea Cipressa and Paul Azzi, the Federal Council and Ezio De Bartolomeo, Vincenzo Rinaldi,
Secretary General, Marco Cannella and managers from the fencing sectors, who mostly involved in organising the championship event in Italy, found themselves around the same table, expressing a very proactive spirit for Italian Fencing Federation. The Project
for providing services during the championships was named SiciliaScherma.
The President, Sebastiano Manzoni, of the project 'SiciliaScherma' and the project manager, Sofia Maria Santucci, presented the structure for the Organising Committee. The Sicilian Region, an organisation that has funded and managed the entire project 'SiciliaScherma',
was represented by the authorised official, Antonio Belcuore. All parties have expressed their intention to implement all the initiatives and resources to achieve the common objective during the championships.
The President of the Italian Fencing Federation, George Poor described the core objective in the meeting, "To meet the expectations of the international world of fencing. But above all reply, the needs of the athletes, who will compete in 2011 Catania World
Championship, is not only the world title but also the Olympic qualification. Italy, from fencing of its value, cannot be ready for this appointment."
There were some other specific issues that were postponed by the parties for further meetings. The federation will review the various organizational aspects of the 2011 Catania Championship event from an operational standpoint. The president said at the
end of the meeting, “I am confident because I felt proactiveness and the meeting can only be described as very fruitful.”
The 2011 Catania World Championship, which is also the annual world fencing championship event, is scheduled from October 8 to October 16.
