Meeting with Roger Goodell: Tennessee Titans’ troubled WR Kenny Britt faces disciplinary action
Tennessee Titans’ troubled wide receiver Kenny Britt was on the course to meet National Football League (NFL) commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to discuss the recent incident of the arrest on charge of driving under the influence (DUI) and attempting
to trespass a military establishment.
Kenny, whose run-in with police over different troubles seems to have become a matter of routine, knows it will not be so easy to face the commissioner this time around, given the official adopted a rather lenient approach as far as his previous issues were
concerned. He has escaped the possibility of suspension by the league and this may not be an option in front of the league’s boss anymore.
The player said:
"What I expect tomorrow is a lot of questions."
There is also a sense of realisation on part of the player that he may not be able to skip the possibility of a disciplinary action now, and if it happens to be the case it will further push back his chances to bring back the pro career on the track of an uninterrupted
progression.
Away from the DUI, the player is marred with a number of injury problems since past year. He has had as many as three surgeries since last season and is still in the phase of recovery from the latest one he had on his knee during this offseason.
The Titans have placed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, meaning he will have to clear physical/contact before qualifying for return to action at the time he reports his recovery and fitness to the team.
It nevertheless is not a good approach for the player to handle his pro career. He has already been in trouble more than half a dozen times and the number of issues and controversies that he has been through can have a longer affect on his reputation and
credibility in the league.
Almost all commentators agree to Britt’s potential and talent to grow faster in the career but his off-field issues do not convince any one of them to note if the receiver is serious about pursuing an ambitious growth in his pro league stint.
