Meeznah’s next target to be the Qipco British Champions Fillies' And Mares' Stakes at Ascot on 15th October
The four-year-old, David Lanigan trained Meeznah’s next goal has been recognized as the Qipco British Champions Fillies' And Mares' Stakes at Ascot after she last raced at Doncaster on 8th September with Frankie Dettori onboard.
She has raced five times this season and the sixth would be the Ascot, as planned. Meeznah has won two of the races since the season began. In both the wins posted, she had Frankie Dettori’s name with her own.
"She worked very well (on Wednesday morning) over a mile and all going well the plan is for her to go to Ascot for the fillies' race on Champions Day (October 15)", said Lanigan.
At Goodwood on 28th July Meeznah was competing against nine other contestants on the field.
She first held up in midfield, got ridden and put in some serious effort for over two furlong out then she led and edged right over one furlong out.
She drove further and then went clear one furlong out and since then stayed in command of the rest of the lot when she entered into the final furlong and easily finished the race.
M Delzangles trained Shankardeh was the second in line to get done with the race under Christophe-Patrice Lemaire and Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s Motrice was positioned third with Seb Sanders onboard.
Sir Henry Cecil’s Wild Coco found the fifth position in the race with jockey Tom Queally. John Gosden’s Field Of Miracles finished ninth and it was Sir Michael Stoute’s Ship’s Biscuit that was the last horse to leave the tracks.
The next victory was on 8th September at Doncaster where Meeznah tracked the leaders, went smoothly headway to lead approaching final two furlong, then was ridden over one furlong out and then she stayed on strongly for the rest of the field. She ended up finishing the race comfortably.
It was Michael Bell’s Set To Music who was second in this race with Jamie Spencer and to get the third position was Clive Cox trained Polly’s Mark being ridden by Richard Hughes. A P O’Brien’s Spin finished at a disappointing sixth under C O’Donoghue.
The trainer explained:
"We're just taking it one step at a time at the moment, but hopefully we'll get her to Ascot if they get good ground. There isn't too much rain forecast I don't think, so it should be all right”.
If Meezan wins the Qipco British Champions Fillies' And Mares' Stakes at Ascot then it will get posted as her third win this season and would do her connections proud.
