Meg Bailey wins Girls 200m butterfly gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Meg Bailey of Hunter won gold medal of the Girls 200m butterfly on first day of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Monday, April 8.
The 16-year-old Bailey demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the distant butterfly discipline as she made her way towards the finishing end for first position. With her commendable pace, she remained comfortably ahead of her challengers and tapped the
wall for gold medal.
With her immaculate efforts, Bailey showed no mercy to her opponents and cruised her way towards the finishing wall for first position by posting a time of 2 minutes and 13.96 seconds.
The champion was followed by Emily Washer of Carlie, who stayed nearly two body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 15.81 seconds.
The second fastest swimmer was followed by Karleigh Banks of Rocky City, who was 0.31 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end by posting a time of 2 minutes and 15.81 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Marth Spilioti of Sans Souci, who stayed 0.47 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.59 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Eliza Ham of Nunawading, who stayed full body length slower from her preceding swimmer and hit the finishing end by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.51 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by Kiah Melverton of Tss Aquatics, who was almost two body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.56 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Chelsea Unwin of West Coast, who was 0.25 seconds apart and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 19.81 seconds.
Last spot of the race was secured by Alina Tape of Mingara, who was 1.15 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 20.96 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received medals at the victory ceremony of the event.
