Mega deal between Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays gets approval by MLB – MLB Update
Major League Baseball approved the mega deal between the Toronto Blue Jays and Miami Marlins after reviewing it in detail.
Commissioner Bud Selig has been arguing on the very principles of the deal. According to Selig, who made these comments right after the owners’ meeting that the Marlins’ should have considered many times before they traded some of the best players to Blue Jays.
Selig’s comments were directly related to Marlins fans and their new ballpark that was built mostly with tax payers money. The Florida community has also mounted pressure on Marlins to reconsider this ambitious deal.
However, now sources have reported that Major League approved this somewhat divisive deal.
"After a thorough examination of this information, it is my conclusion that this transaction, involving established major leaguers and highly regarded young players and prospects, represents the exercise of plausible baseball judgment on the part of both clubs," Selig said in a statement and expressed specifically about the trade between the Blue Jays and Marlins.
Later Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said to a renowned sports website and explained in detail about the deal, "We've finished in last place the past two years, and that is unacceptable to our fans, to us as an organization, and to me, We want to get back to our winning ways, and we want a winning baseball team for our fans.”
The mega deal involved some 12 players while Blue Jays were the big gainers as they received starter Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson and shortstop Jose Reyes.
Earlier this deal made many Miami fans furious that encouraged City Mayor Tomas Regalado to write a letter to Major League Baseball commissioner Selig.
Infielder/outfielder Emilio Bonifacio and catcher John Buck were also traded to Blue Jays. Experts believe that with this recent deal the Blue Jays outfield has come alive and they will come out as real victorious in American League East next season.
Fans are also happy for the Blue Jays and cheering for their chances in the next Major League event.
