Mega-tsunamis??

Question

Does anyone know anything about them. how big would they be, how fast would the travel and what devestation would the cause. Say for instance we we hit by a massive comet in the ocean?

Believe it or don't, but one of the best descriptions of likely consequences (with rescue methods not available to us) appears in the Pern series book The Skies of Pern by Anne McCaffrey.  Without getting overly technical, it makes clear the varying levels of devastation and the people problems before, during and after.   Substitute TV and Radio for dragons and "timing it" and most of it is totally realistic.
