Megan Gianotti seizes Girls 200m butterfly gold – State Teams SC Championships
Megan Gianotti of QLD seized gold medal of the Girls 200m butterfly in 15-16 years age category on third day of the 2012 State Teams Short Course Championships at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra on Monday, October 8.
Gianotti dictated terms to her opponents in the distant butterfly discipline as she ensured her place on top of the medal rostrum for gold medal.
With her persistent efforts, she enjoyed a substantial lead over her opponents and surfaced on the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 12.63 seconds.
The champion was followed by Jemma Schlicht of VIC, who stayed two and a half body length behind and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 15.18 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Meg Bailey of NSW, who remained 0.07 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end as third best finisher by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 15.25 seconds.
Bailey was chased by Taylor Green of QLD, who remained 1.08 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 16.33 seconds.
Fifth best spot of the race was obtained by Vanes Puhlmann of QLD, who was four body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 20.22 seconds.
Puhlmann was traced by Chelsea Unwin of WA, who suffered a deficit of just 0.03 seconds from her former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 20.25 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh spot of the event was obtained by Eliza Ham of VIC, who stayed 0.58 seconds behind and touched the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 20.83 seconds.
Ham was chased by Hayley Anschau of NSW, who was unable to overpower any of her opponents and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 21.68 seconds.
In addition, Gianotti received a huge round of applause from the audience for her gruelling efforts and raked medal at the victory ceremony of the event.
