Megan Khang shows her true colours on the fairways
These days, young golfers usually have undivided support of their parents where professional golf is concerned.
Megan Khang’s father had a major influence on the career of the 15-year-old.
Khang said that her father is the reason why she started playing golf in the first place.
Going on about her father, she said that her father used numerous methods to get her to play golf, and one of his methods included bribery.
She spoke of her father’s unorthodox ways, saying that when she was a little older than two years, her father bribed her, and told her that if she hit the ball on the fairway he would let
her drive the golf cart.
She said that the prospect of driving the cart really excited her. She also mentioned that her father used to give her $5 if she made a birdie during a tournament and a dollar if she made
par.
Khang added that her father was like a golf fairy to her.
The 15-year-old enjoys playing golf now more than driving the cart. she has made a name for herself with an excellent display of golf on the fairways at such a tender age.
During the Orange Bowl International Championship held at the Baltimore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Khang played exquisite golf.
She led the tournament from the front after she carded a 69 score on the first round, with a 70 on the following day.
At 3-under par 139, Khang was ahead of second place, the Argentinean golfer, Delfina Acosta and Nicole Morales of South Salem, New York.
While speaking about golf, Khang said: “Everything is on you, and you can’t blame anybody else. You look in the mirror and you know who hit those shots, good or bad”.
With her full concentration on golf, the 15-year-old has set herself to win the Junior OB. She revealed that she would like to extend her lead.
She is enjoying her time on and off the fairways. Talking about her experience of Miami she said: “This is definitely nice. There are a lot of great golf courses down here”.
The young golfer is a sports enthusiast and enjoys playing other sports as well. She is an avid snowboarder and said that it is like her hobby and a second sport after golf that she really
likes.
At such a young age, Khang has made the headlines by overpowering more experienced ant stronger opponents on the fairways. With so many young golfers coming and making their mark on the circuit,
it becomes difficult to analyse their future prospect.
History has shown us that numerous young ladies made their presence felt on the fairways but solely faded away. It is too soon to predict what the future holds for the 15-year-old, but what
can be said for sure is that she is immensely talented.
