Question:

Megapixels question?

Is it worth it to spend an extra 50 bucks to get a 8 MP camera instead of a 6 MP camera? Does it make that much of a difference? Also, I'm not a photographer or anything. I just use my camera at social events and such. I am thinking about buying the 6 MP one, but my old camera was 7 MP and I don't want to be disappointed. Will it be that much of a difference? Will I notice it?

  1. It doesn't matter. If you do just regular prints like 4x6, you'll be fine. 8 Megapixels is if your planning to get big prints than the average sizes, here is an example below.

    4 x 6" 2 megapixels 1600 x 1200

    5 x 7" 3 megapixels 2048 x 1536

    8 x10" 5 megapixels 2560 x 1920

    11x14" 6 megapixels 2816 x 2112

    16x20" 8 megapixels 3264 x 2468

  2. You will only notice the difference once you blow up the pictures fairly large.

  3. oki, for normal computer screen size prints, hmmm lets say A4 you need about 3.5mpix to print good quality. No you wont notice a difference.

Most of people like you will think digital zoom is zoom as well as optical, so yea they/you will use it, well digital zoome is cropping optical zoom, basically cutting pixels of, there you might welcome more pixels.

  4. You won't notice a thing. Some 6mp camera's are bettor than some 10 mp camera's.
