Megumi Ito occupies Girls 400m freestyle gold – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Megumi Ito of Itoman occupied gold medal of the Girls 400m freestyle on opening day of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Friday, September 21.
Ito, who qualified into the playoff as third best finisher, elevated her efforts in the final round and proved her mettle for gold medal.
On the other hand, the crowd was shocked with the sluggish effort of Aya Takano, who was unable to make any improvement in her timing and consequently, failed to sustain her spot.
Ito remained one and a half body length ahead of her toughest challenger and touched the wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 18.50 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Aine Matsushita of Itoman, who stayed 1.37 seconds behind and secured silver medal of the race by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 19.87 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Takano, who dropped to third best spot of the race by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 20.77 seconds.
Takano was chased by Abby L Jagdfeld of NCSA, who stayed 0.83 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end as fourth best swimmer by touching the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 21.60 seconds.
Similarly, Jagdfeld enjoyed an advantage of 0.65 seconds over Megan E Byrnes of NCSA, who occupied fifth best spot in the playoff by touching the wall with a timing of 4 minute and 22.25 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by Stephanie C Peters of NCSA, who remained two body lengths apart and tapped the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 24.52 seconds.
Peters was chased by Katherine G Drabot of NCSA, who stayed more than half a body length behind and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 25.26 seconds for seventh place.
Natsuki Maruyama of Itoman was disqualified from the event due to a false turn and failed to secure any position.
In addition, Ito expressed happiness over her victory in the event.
