Mehdi Abeid snubs Everton and Atletico Madrid interest to play for Newcastle United - EPL News
Former Lens player, Mehdi Abeid, has revealed his excitement over the prospect of playing for Newcastle United during the upcoming 2011/12 season. The youngster penned down a deal with the Magpies officials on May 25, 2011, which ties him down to St. James’
Park outfit until 2016.
The 18-year-old confirmed that he wanted a move in order to get a change of environment and was delighted to play in the English Premier League for the Toons. He mentioned that he has been feeling a lot better off late in terms of his form, and therefore
believed that he could meet the expectations of the Magpies officials.
The 18-year-old got through the youth ranks of the French side before making his way into the Lens B side but failed to appear for the club’s first team. The player is capped at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Junior-c20060 International levels, French U17 and U18 teams, but is yet to make his
debut for the French national side.
It was revealed that the Frenchman also attracted interest from fellow Premier League side, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew.
The defensive midfielder further added, "After eight fantastic years at Lens, I have stagnated. I needed a change of air. I am not afraid to leave for abroad. The leaders of the club told me about their plans and that they will rely on me for next season.
For my part, I intend to give everything to develop in the Premier League."
He mentioned that Newcastle officials have had a detailed meeting with him where everything was revealed regarding the club’s plans. The 18-year-old admitted his interest in the Toons and also confirmed that it was not his own decision to join the club.
