Melanie Costa captures Women’s 400m freestyle gold – Swimming News
Melanie Costa of Spain captured gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle on the second day of the 2013 Mare Nostrum Circuit in Canet, France on Sunday, June 16.
Costa devastated hopes of her opponents in the mediocre distance freestyle discipline as she cruised her way towards the finishing end for first position.
With her immaculate efforts, Costa remained three body lengths ahead of her closest competitor as she transpired on the finishing end for first position with the timing of 4 minutes and 07.59 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Wenqing Zhang of China, who was almost three seconds slower from her former finisher and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and
10.35 seconds.
The second best finisher was traced by Samantha Lucie-Smith of New Zealand, who was 2.06 seconds slower from her preceding finisher and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 12.41 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the discipline was obtained by Beatriz Gomez of Spain, who was 2.52 seconds apart and settled on the finishing wall for fourth position by clocking an effort of 4 minutes and 14.93 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was secured by Julia Hassler of Liechtenstein, who was almost two body lengths slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 16.80 second.
Sixth position of the race was secured by Ziyi Chen of China, who was 1.13 seconds slower from outsmarting her former finisher as she concluded her race in a time of 4 minutes and 17.93 seconds.
Subsequently, Chen was chased by Coralle Codevelle of France, who suffered a deficit of only 0.01 seconds from her preceding finisher and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 17.94 seconds.
Last spot of the discipline was chased by Jessica Cavalheiro of Brazil, who was considerably slower from upsetting any of her competitors and posted a time of 4 minutes and 30.40 seconds.
In addition, Costa expressed happiness over her win and collected accolade after the race.
