Melanie Maetzler talks about the London Olympics 2012
London Olympics are just around the corner and like every other sports person, golfers are also excited about the event.
Melanie Maetzler, the Swiss golfer is visibly excited about the event and shared her thoughts about what she likes about the greatest games on earth.
The first question was the one everyone asks a sports person, what are their favourite sports?  Maetzler, being Swiss and an avid sport person named tennis, skiing and cross country run as her absolute favourites.
Winning a contest is the dream of every player who enters the arena and golf is no different. When asked about her favourite moment in Olympics, she replied, very naturally, that it is the moment when an athlete realises that they have won the event.
Maetzler plays golf professionally. She, however, does not ignore other sports and tries her hand at them any time she gets a chance. She plays tennis and occasionally goes to ski with her friends and family.
Another question that naturally arose was whether she has met any Olympians herself. Maetzler said that she had the honour to meets several Olympic competitors and she cherishes her meetings to this day.
She named Dario Cologna, whom she met through a mutual acquaintance. She also talked about Iouri Podlatschikov, who attended the same school as hers.
Naturally, the talk turned towards which country will win the most medals. Maetzler named the USA and said that Great Britain will be the runner-up of the event. This is pretty realistic as the USA has won the most medals (16321) in the history of the Olympic
Games.
When talking to a golfer about the Olympics, the talk will always include the reference to the upcoming inclusion of golf in the 2016 Olympic Games.
Maetzler was very enthusiastic about the whole thing. She said that this will have tremendous impact on golf and will cause some changes in the rules of the game.
She said that each country is allowed to send four players at the maximum and this will mean tough competition to get on the team.
Maetzler is a talented player who has not competed much in pro golf events. Perhaps with more exposure, things will change for the Swiss golfer.
