Melanie Oudin to win all of the grand slam tournaments
The year 2009 was a banner year for rising star Melanie Oudin, and there are many who are hoping that she repeats and surpasses her achievements last year. In fact, her 2009 season has been so successful that even the organizers of the Sony Ericsson open awarded her with the Tour’s Newcomer of the Year Award.
Melanie’s 2009 season started well she finally broke through the world top 50, which was made even better when she competed in Wimbledon. She joined Wimbledon as a qualifier and reached the 4th round of the competition and defeated world number 1 Jelena Jankovic. In the US Open, Melanie played in the quarterfinals and defeated Elena Dementieva, Maria Sharapova and Nadia Petrova on her way to the quarters. By the end of the US Open, she was up in the world rankings and climbed to number 32.
2009 was a career high for Melanie, and she hopes that her success follows her in the ongoing 2010 season. As of the moment, the accolades never seem to stop for Melanie Oudin. Her recent quarter final appearance in the Family Circle Cup has led her to the 36th rank of the world rankings, breaking into the world top 40 female tennis players.
Apart from Oudin semifinal’s appearance in the US Open, Oudin will try to replicate her semifinal appearance last year in Paris. Oudin has proven to be at par with the best of the best and it would not at all be surprising if she eliminates one of the French Open favourites this year; after all, she has done it all before. However, it must be said that Oudin has only been in the French Open once in her career and she has only reached the first round losing to Zuzana Ondraskova after a poor showing. Ranking 31st in the world a few days before the French Open is good for Oudin. This would mean that she is so near the bubble of the players that will be seeded in the French Open.
But realistically, Melanie Oudin, despite her stellar performance in 2009, is not expected to perform well in the upcoming French Open. There are a lot of players that are gunning for the French Open title this year like Jelena Jankovic, Venus Williams and Justine Henin which will give her a harder time to reach the finals of the French Open.
With that being said, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Melanie Oudin is still considered to be one of the few players who will most likely create an upset in the upcoming French Open. The sport of tennis loves underdogs and huge upsets, and with Melanie Oudin part of the competition this coming May 23rd, tennis fans may be in for a treat. After all, it’s not the first time Melanie Oudin has created a huge upset in a grand slam tournament.
Oudin is aware that there are still more to polish in her game. Her backhand shot remains questionable at times her opponent lunches an array of shot on her weak side. Oudin also sometimes falter in preassure-packed situation. Her eagerness to beat the tension frequently leads to a slew of errors. However, tennis followers think Oudin’s prime is yet to come. It is just a matter of time that Oudin will be one of the top-notch cuppers in women’s circuit.
But for now, Melanie is expected to reach the 2nd round of the French Open. She may not be able to reach the finals of this year’s French Open, but be aware, that in a few year’s time, Melanie Oudin can be the one to win all of the grand slam tournaments.
