Melbourne Australia?

Question

Have you been to melbourne Australia as a tourist? What did you think of it, I want some honest oppinions please!! I am writing a book and need to know people's intial immpressions of melbourne, whatr you thought of the place, you likes/dislikes. I need to know everything.

The Traffic is a nightmare. The Lights take for ever to change colour and the right turn from the left hand lane is a travesty. The people have become colder and more insular - teh last time I was there i witnessed blatant racism.

The shopping is good - the culture and sports are great. The Crown Casino is a massive complex.

The Massive Public Sculptures/Designs around the freewyas look stupid.

Public Transport is good.

TRAFFIC- is only a nightmare in peak hours otherwise you can drive around no worries



WEATHER-is great less rain than Sydney and Brisbane by half,yes a bit cooler in winter than the 2 mentioned but summer is hot,dry and runs longer these days with out the humidity of Queensland

NIGHTLIFE-Melbourne has the most bars with the most liberal licencing laws in the country,so no problem getting a drink.

SPORT-Melbourne has all the major events i.e spring carnival including the Melbourne cup,moto GP,f1 grand prix,cricket in the summer,AFL(Aussie rules) in winter plus rugby league with Melbourne storm,soccer A league also in summer,

EVENTS-are never ending and always changing something for everybody

RESTAURANTS-known as the best place in Australia for food

SHOPPING-same as the restaurants

I'm sure you'll love it,and don't listen to the Sydney wankers that will put it down they just don't get it.

Melbourne is the underground capital of Australia. It has well laid out streets, most of them run parallel to each other. It is difficult to drive around as people tend "to go everywhere" and don't follow road rules. The people are generally friendly though. The weather is normally cooler than the rest of Australia. It is a good place to visit. You can buy nearly anything you like there too.  Hope this helps.

People follow road rules...

the weather is always changing, one day it might be really cold and the next its warm.

the city is always crowded and makes it impossible to travel around, especially if your in your cars. public transport such as trains are easy to travel with, but if youre going to the city, you can never get a seat in the train because its always crowded.

i go to melbourne quiet alot, every holiday actually.
