  1. Hey!

well i reckon i am one of the best people to ask because i absolutely love it there! i go there about every two months lol.

    sucks to live in hobart...

well since you can only be there for a day i guess you would want to choose things that dont take too long to do.

definitely go to the eureka tower. melbournes tallest building and the worlds tallest residential building.

you get the BEST views over the city and beyond. something definitely not to miss and you can get the most awesome pictures.

surrounded by parks and the yarra river. its in southbank.

a chocolate tour is a must. especially if you love chocolate.

there is a good chocolate tour company, i have been on one and i can highly reccomend. most tours dont usually go for more than a couple of hours.

here is their website- if you do decide to go on one, make sure you book at least 3 weeks to a month in advance as they are quite popular. take a squiz around the website too, makes you wish you could be on one when your reading it lol.

well one of my favourite shopping areas isnt filled with everything you could imagine and isnt the cheapest, but its good because it has little quirky type shops and lots of good food areas. Australia on Collins. obviously collins street. very nice spot, absolutely beautiful centre too.

DFO, direct factory outlet, has a million and a half shops, all at cheap prices since it comes directly from the factory. they have most big brands you could think of.

there is a dfo in spencer street, melbourne and one out at the essendon airport plus many more around, but they would be closest to you.

Chapel Street is one of my absolute all time favourites. most shops are expensive specialising in haute couture but at the other end you have bargain basements too!

its a good feeling when someone asks you where you got that top from, "ohh i got it from chapel street actually"

"wow, i love that spot. so expensive too"

what they dont have to know is that it was from a bargain basement!

    www.chapelstreet.com.au

    Melbourne Central.

you have your international labels, funky street wear, chic clothing and so on. lots of large shoe shops to!

you have a decent mix of conserative chic that wont run you dry all the way to up market clothing.

    Chadstone Shopping Centre.

was Victoria's first regional freestanding shopping centre and it is now a monolith of nearly 400 retail shops. The offerings here range from designer-chic department store goods to reasonably priced suburban staples—and everything else in between.

other little activities are maybe going to the imax theatre. absolutely massive screen. so good. feels like your right there with the 3d glasses and all lol.

    melbourne aquarium.

    so good!

wouldnt like to go diving with the sharks and all but its good to see all the little creatures and just how they live.

ok if you love coffee as much as i do, you must go to lygon street!

    stuzzichinos, 169 lygon street.

    omgsh. best cappuccions ever.

    i know, i'm italian lol.

and they also have one of the best toasted sandwiches.

also brunetti for the cakes and gelato, or even if you feel like having a meal there. bellissimo.

    Brunetti carlton

    194-204 faraday street, carlton

    Brunetti city square

    214 flinders lane, melbourne

well this was fun, hope i have helped. might go and book myself a flight to melbourne now lol.

    hope this helped!

    have the most awesome time!

    melbourne is the best!

  2. I suppose Chapel Street South Yarra would be one of the coolest places to shop, and if you have any time and money left over, you could go to the lookout on top of the Eureka Tower in the city for the best views of Melbourne.

The Skydeck visit will cost you $16.50 per adult ($11 concession) and the "Edge" is $12 extra:

    Have fun!

  3. Erin,

If this is going to be your first time that you have visited Melbourne then the following is a must see and do list of all the things Victoria has to offer (well the majority of things to do)

    The Royal Melbourne Zoo http://www.zoo.org.au/MelbourneZoo

    Werribee Open Range Zoo http://www.zoo.org.au/WerribeeOpenRangeZ...

    Healesville Sanctuary http://www.zoo.org.au/HealesvilleSanctua...

    Eureka SkyDeck http://www.eurekalookout.com.au

    Sovereign Hill http://www.sovereignhill.com.au/

You also gotta go to Phillip Island and check out the Penguin Parade. While in Phillip Island go to Amaze 'n' Things http://www.amazenthings.com.au/

If you are hanging out to do some shopping whilst in Melbourne, not only can you find some bargains at the Queen Victoria Market, but DFO have heaps of designer brands at bargain prices, so you gotta check that out too. http://www.dfo.com.au

Don't forget to go down to Lygon Street for a bite to eat (there are heaps of Italian restaurants and there is an ice cream shop there (sorry I forgot the name of it) where they sell the best ice cream in Melbourne)

If you are after a unique dining experience, why don't you try Hard Rock Cafe http://www.hardrockcafe.com.au and T.G.I . Fridays http://www.tgifridays.com.au.

You can also grab a bite to eat as well as a floorshow at the many theatre restaurants located in and around the city such as Dracula's and Witches in Britches just to name a few.

If you feel in the mood for some serious gambling (its your choice), the place to go is Crown Casino. At Crown you can also grab a bite to eat at any of their 40 restaurants, cafes or snack bars, take in a movie at Village Cinema which is located inside Crown Casino, play ten pin bowling at King Pin bowling lounge, play interactive games at Galactic Circus, dance the night away at  Fusion and  Club Odeon nightclubs or just SHOP, SHOP, SHOP at exclusive designer boutiques such as Versace, Louis Vuitton or Prada just to name a few  and other general fashion stores http://www.crowncasino.com.au/

There are plenty of other things that you can do while in Victoria, just go to the visit victoria website for more details (that sounded like an advertisement just then * ha ha*)

Enjoy your stay in Melbourne and have lots of fun!!!!

  4. For a free orientation of Melbourne take the free tram and the free shuttle bus around the city. You can jump on and off but I recommend that you do the whole circuit.

Things to do after that would be some shopping:

Southern Cross Station has around 80 DFO shops

Melbourne Central has four floors of shopping

Visit Hosier Lane and the GPO Building for Designer wear.

Visit Cathedral Arcade for Alice Euphemia and climb the stairs to the first floor for the funky Retrostar shop.

In Centre Place visit Kinki Gerlinki

Visit the Queen Victoria Market closed Mondays and Wednesdays. The shuttle bus drops you off right outside.

Take the tram to Bridge Road (Factory Outlets) and Chapel Street for more shopping

Go to Eureka Tower and do the Edge

Visit the Crown Casino - if there at dark see the Gas Flames

Have lunch in one of the lanes. Pick up a leaflet at the Melbourne Visitor Centre Fed Sq and walk from Desgraves St through to Bourke St Mall and you will see the lanes and the Arcades

    Visit Melbourne Aquarium

Such a lot more to do here but need more than a day.

Enjoy yourself - you will have a great time
