Melbourne Rebels’ Jarrod Saffy urges his to do better in upcoming matches - Super Rugby
Melbourne Rebels player, Jarrod Saffy, is not happy with the current performance of his team in the ongoing Super Rugby season. The Rebels are currently placed at the bottom of the point tables. Talking to media on June 4, he expressed his disappointment
at Friday’s defeat by the Stormers. The Rebels were left l*****g their wounds by the Stormers in AAMI Park as they crushed the local team by a huge margin of 40-3 in front of their home crowd.
The Rebels proved to be a piece of cake for the spirited Stormers and let their opponents earn bonus point with the victory. The motivated Stormers scored heaps of points with the help of four tries.
The Rebels, who made their Super Rugby debut this year, tasted their worst defeat in the so far played matches. Their coach, Rod McQueen, was also moved by the poor performance of his side and declared it unsatisfactory. McQueen was given charge of the young
side this year to lift the inexperienced team but up to now the veteran coach has failed to motivate the unit.
The South African flanker, who joined the Rebels this year, said that Rebels were committed to perform in the match but could not deliver their best. He further said that, “It was very disappointing. We always knew we were going to be up against it with
the Stormers. But we thought we were going to perform but it wasn't our night, we were simply out-enthused. It all comes down to desire. They wanted it more than us.”
The Rebels have left with two more games in the ongoing Super Rugby championship and Saffy urged his side to end up the season with couple of good performances. He said, "We really need to lift up our talk and our enthusiasm and really get up for these next
two games. They're going to be extremely tough. It's a really tight comp.”
The Melbourne Rebels will take on the Brumbies in their next match of Super Rugby on June 10.
