Melbourne Rebels reveal 30-member squad for forthcoming season of Super Rugby
Melbourne Rebels, who made their Super Rugby debut in 2011, have revealed their 30-member squad for the forthcoming season of the Super Rugby championship. The Rebels publicised their crew on October 31, which included a couple of big names from the Wallabies,
including Kurtley Beale and James O’Connor. Melbourne Rebels’ head coach, Damien Hill, made the announcement of his new looking combination and said that with the inclusion of Australian duo, the derby will become a better side.
The championship will kick off in the mid of March and the Rebels will try to better their position unlike the inaugurating season of their history. They were allowed to be included in Super Rugby 15, during last year by Sanzar but ended up the season in
a poor way with last position on the ladder.
The Rebels managed to win only three matches in their maiden participation in Super Rugby championship after 16 outgoings and disappointed their supporters in many ways. Their on field and off-field activities were lacking a professional approach. One of
their players, Danny Cipriani, was accused of theft, while he was caught by short circuit camera, while hiding a vodka bottle in his trousers.
Damien Hill, who replaced Rod McQueen as a head coach of Super Rugby conference this year, has hoped for an improved effort next year. He told the reporters that derby has decided to hire new faces in this regard. Hill argued that, “Kurtley Beale and James
O'Connor are two of the games most exciting young talents. Their decision to sign with the Rebels reaffirms that Melbourne and the club, has a Rugby Union program that is attractive to players of this calibre.”
He added that, “We also see new additions Paul Alo-Emile, Mitch Inman and James King as players for the future, while strong running Centre Lloyd Johansson is our first Victorian born Rebel.”
Rebels’ squad for next season of Super Rugby:
