Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat – Big Bash League, 2012/13 (1st semi-final) – Live Cricket Score and Match Update – Pomersbach guides Heat to BBL finals
Centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Pomersbach-c1856 put forth a brilliant display which allowed the Brisbane Heat to breeze through the first semi-final of the ongoing Big Bash League, enabling them to claim a 15-run win over the Melbourne Renegades, at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne
today on January 15.
Heat had the upper-hand from the start, and after winning the toss and choosing to bat, the team got off to a smashing start courtesy opening batsman and Player of the Match Luke Pomersbach, who guided the innings, and led with an unbeaten 112, including
2 sixes, and a staggering 15 fours.
Fellow opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joe-Burns-c67125 (33) managed to join Pomersbach for an 80-run partnership
for the second wicket, which brought the team total up to 97.
The Renegades’ bowling attack could do little but watch on as the Heat continued to accumulate. By the time the home team managed to dismiss http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Christian-c1308 (11)
teamed up with Pomersbach for a third-wicket stand worth 41 runs, which brought the Heat up to 138 by the 17th over.
Christian made an abrupt exit at the hands of spin wizard http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Lynn-c1246 (20*) for a final unbeaten partnership worth 45 runs, and by the end of 20 overs, with 3 wickets down, Brisbane Heat
managed to post a daunting final total of 183.
The subsequent chase proved too much for the Renegades to handle, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alister-McDermott-c43674 (4-0-31-2), and Lynn (2-0-15-2) joining forces to knock their hosts out of the competition.
Coming in at number four, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alex-Hales-c985 (20) were the only other batsmen who managed to surpass the 20-run mark. By the time 20 overs drew to a close, 9 wickets were down and the
Renegades, at 168, were knocked out of the competition after falling 15 runs short, while Brisbane Heat advanced to the finals of the competition.
