Melbourne and Sydney fight for the World Cup Final– Cricket News Update

“Absolutely it does. The MCG is the birthplace of Australian cricket. It has a capacity of 100,000 and is a genuine cricket ground. We hosted the final here in 1992, where a record crowd came to a game where Australia didn`t even participate,” Dodemaide
said.

On 2nd April 2011, soon after the final of the 2011 World Cup, the ICC revealed the new logo for the 2015 World Cup. Similar to the format of the 2011 World Cup, the 2015 World Cup will also feature 14 teams with 10 affiliate member nations and 4 associate
members. The teams will be divided in two groups with seven teams each.
The 2015 World Cup will be held in February and will span over a period of 6 weeks but on the selection of the venue for the World Cup final even ICC World Cup chief executive John Harnden thinks MCG looks strong, “It`s too early to say where the final will
be held but the MCG is an obvious contender as are some other venues,” he said.
