this WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) International event taking place in Acapulco, Mexico.
The 29-year-old brushed off early resistance to pull out the victory in an hour and 41-minutes battle in their third meeting. She committed seven double faults and several unforced errors but capitalised on three out of five break opportunities to dominate.
The Hungarian produced a better first serve share of 63 percent and impressively clicked 38 out of 57 points on it.
Ranked 132nd in the WTA Premier Rankings, Czink displayed tremendous defensive skills at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess and blocked five out of six breakpoints she encountered. On the other hand she cashed in the only break opportunity and dragged
the opening set to a tie-breaker. Czink prevailed in it and sealed the opener with a 7-6(6) win.
The Hungarian lifted the bar of her game in the proceeding set. She lost her serve once but capitalised on two out of four break opportunities to clobber a 6-3 success.
Up next for Czink is the conqueror of the battle against Spain’s Lourdes Dominguez Lino and the defending champion, Gisela Dulko.
Later that day, fourth seeded Irina-Camelia Begu stole the show by battling past the Swiss competitor, Timea Bacsinszky, in almost three hours. Begu dusted away 10 out of 19 breakpoints she came across and cashed in nine out of 17 break chances to formulate
a 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4 victory. She produced a slightly lower first serve share but acceptably clinched 36 out of 68 points on it.
"It was very humid and playing three hours in those conditions was not easy, but I'm happy I won," the Romanian youngster said after the match. "She had nothing to lose today and was playing really well. I had so many chances in the first set and was up
3-1 in the second set.., but I just fought for every ball and thankfully I won in the end. I just want to come back to Acapulco every year. The organization, the player party and everything is perfect here. I'm really enjoying myself."
Next in line for the 21-year-old is the winner of the match between Czech Republic’s Eva Birnerova and Anna Tatishvili of Georgia.
