Melissa Reid eager for Turkish Ladies Open
Melissa Reid is looking forward to defend her Turkish Ladies Open title at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya this weekend, May 6-8, 2011.
The player is now confident she can win the title. Reid has been preparing for the 6220 yard par 73 course and is bound to get around those narrow tree lined fairways.
Melissa Reid said she usually drives it quite well as one has to be very straight around here. Talking about where she will tee off the coming weekend, Reid said its one of the toughest courses we played all year round and the player truly has to think smart.
"You've got to be on the right or left side of the fairways and you've got to be a certain side of the pin as well. You've got to play smart around here. You've got to take your chances when you get them and be very conservative because this course can catch
you out when you don't pay attention to it”, said Reid.
The 23-year old player has two top five finishes after three starts on the Ladies European tour this year. Reid tied for second place at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open and is ranked 42nd in the world.
At the New Zealand Women’s Open, Reid tied for fourth place and came in fifteenth place at the ANZ RACV Ladies Masters. The player said that she really needs to continue her run of form to
be among the top players on the Ladies European Tour’s Henderson Money List.
Talking more about the money list, Reid said that it is too early in the season to be concerned about it. She also said that the European Tour has been getting stronger due to the incoming American golfers.
Turning professional in 2007, Reid has played 54 tournaments till now and has only won one.
The field for this €250,000 event is really strong as it features talented players such as Sophie Gustafson and Christina Kim as well. In total 126 ladies will tee off at the Turkish Ladies Open as it commences on May 6, 2011.
