Melissa Reid falters in the second round of the Ladies British Masters
The second round of the Ladies British Masters is over. There is some disturbing news for the fans of Melissa Reid.
The English golfer gave away her advantage gained in the first round. She had played an excellent game in the first round. Finishing the round with a great score of 69, Reid appeared to be on her way to a rightly deserved victory. Her opening eagle will
always be remembered as one of the best opening scores.
In the second round, Reid did score a couple of birdies, but mostly, she played on par. This proved to be her undoing and her score fell short at the end of the round.
She started the second round on an average note. The first round was a par score and fans waited for Reid to start charging ahead in the tournament. These pars went on and she came at the eighth hole. Here she dropped a bogey and ended a perfectly good string
of pars.
She finished the front nine with a birdie on the ninth hole. The start of the front nine was not encouraging. She managed to drop another bogey on the tenth hole.
This setback was made worse by the holes 12 and 13. Here Melissa Reid truly lost her lead when she hit two back-to-back bogeys. She recovered a bit with a birdie on the 14th hole and it appeared that Reid might have a chance.
However, a bogey on the 15th hole was the last straw. It was very clear that Reid has lost her place on the leaderboard. This was, however, not the end of her troubles. To end all this, she scored her final bogey on the 18th hole.
No one could explain what really happened during the second round. Reid had a great first round and she was expected to continue her form during the second round.
Her weak performance in this round means that now Reid will finish the event near the bottom of the leaderboard. It is very much possible that she will miss the cut altogether.
