Melissa Reid looking forward to Ladies British Masters
Ladies British Masters is about to start and Melissa Reid is among the golfers who are optimistic about winning the title.
For her, this year has been difficult and her golf reflects the fact. She suffered the loss of her mother and her game suffered a blow because of this tragedy. In May this year, she played in Turkish Airlines Ladies Open and posted an average score on the
leaderboard.
She scored 301 points and tied for the 36th place. This was a tournament that showed her skills and she was just another golfer on the LET.
The next tournament was the Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters. This was where Reid captured the limelight and made headlines across the golf world. She suffered a personal tragedy in the form of her mother’s death. Daisy, her mother died in a tragic car
accident.
At this point, many experts and observers were saying that Reid has every reason to leave the tournament. However, much to everyone’s surprise, she went ahead and won the event.
Talking about this wins, Reid said, “I wasn't expecting to win in Prague, but it was obviously extremely special. I'm sure it helped that my expectations were not too high - and they are not this week either, so perhaps that will be a good thing again”.
The next event was the Evian Masters presented by Societe Generale. Instead of repeating her performance of the last tournament, she flunked the event badly. She missed the cut altogether and ended up in the 88th place.
Melissa Reid is very excited about the upcoming Ladies British Masters for obvious reasons. This is a great opportunity, where she could improve her standing in the money list and on the LET rankings simultaneously.
She is relying on the advantage of the home crowd. She will face top talent from across the world and needs every bit of edge she can muster.
In a comment about this advantage, Reid said, “It's great playing in front of a home crowd," she said. "Hopefully plenty of fans will come out to watch and I will have quite a few family and friends around during the week also”.
