Melissa Reid tied for the 10th place at the Ladies British Masters
The English golfer Melissa Reid was tied for the 10th place after the first round of Ladies British Masters. She scored 69 points in the round.
Reid was very excited about the tournament and said earlier that this is a great sign for the English golf.
When the round started, she played the first hole uneventfully. To everyone’s surprise, she shot an eagle on the second hole. This was an excellent beginning and knowing Reid’s game, many experts were hopeful for a great position.
However, she did not manage to maintain her streak. When Reid came to the fifth hole, she dropped a bogey. This was not taken seriously, as the hole is tricky and difficult to play on.
A bogey on the sixth hole was an indication that Reid might not be able to snag a top position in this round. Nevertheless, Reid was full of surprises during this round.
A surprise came on the ninth hole, where she scored another eagle. This stunning game was greatly appreciated by all and it appeared that she is on her way up.
The back nine started with a birdie on the 10th hole. After this, the two holes went uneventfully. She again sank a bogey on the 13th hole.
Although she did make it up with a birdie on the 14th hole, but the damage was done. Moreover, a bogey on the 17th hole further eroded her score.
She neutralized the loss with a birdie on the 18th hole. The final score was 69 points, 3 more than the leading score.
Melissa Reid was a hot favourite for this event. Being an English golfer, she had the benefit of home crowd.
Talking about the tournament and this advantage, Reid commented earlier, “It's great playing in front of a home crowd. Hopefully plenty of fans will come out to watch and I will have quite a few family and friends around during the week also".
Her performance in the first round proved that she is indeed in great form. She is trailing by just three strokes. For a player of her expertise, this lead is not difficult to overcome.
