Melzer/ Petzschner to collide with Granollers/ Lopez in the title match – Mercedes Cup 2011
The final match of the men’s doubles match of the Mercedes Cup 2011 starts off today at 17:07 hours. The match consists of Jurgen Melzer teaming up with Philipp Petzschner against the two Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez.
The match is being played at the TC Weissenhof Clay Court, Stuttgart, Germany.
The Austrian International, Melzer, has played a number of matches teaming up with the Local favourite Philipp. Out of the last 10 matches the team has won 7. Playing their previous matches on all grounds, the two tennis stars
have been equally successful in all areas. Their combination suits the best circumstances as Melzer plays Left handed and Philipp with right.
Playing as the 3rd seed of the event, the two Spaniards are nuclear together. Granollers and Lopez are as good as their rivals. Having won 7 out the prior 10 matches, regardless the court, the Spaniards have their best
advantage at the moment. The match is on clay court that automatically gives a thought that the Spaniards would win.
The comparison is still not concluded. Melzer and Philip have a lot of experience in their hands. Their numbers of fixtures in doubles are a lot more than that of their Spaniard rivals. This obviously means that they have a better
chemistry with each other during the game. Ranked at world No.12 in doubles, Melzer is clearly an advantage for the team. His stats have over 2000 matches over all that he has played in doubles.
Having played as a team at Wimbledon, Miami Open, and Monte-Carlo and now at the Mercedes Open 2011, the team has a better chance to make their mark and lift the trophy. However, this does not support the statement that Melzer/Philipp
has a clear win.
The Spaniards have a history that they follow. Clay being the best ground for them it seems that if one Spaniard is hard to conquer on clay, what happens if there are two? Supposedly they would destruct anything that stands on
clay apart from them.
The mystery of the final match is still unclear. The stats have nothing but an equality sign between the two teams. However, this is for sure that the final match would be epic.
