Question:

Membership Dilema?

I had a moderator in my group accidentally delete a large group of messages from different users. It appears that if I take away the moderator status and leave memebers as a "member" they cannot delete anyone's message, but their own. However I also need them to be able to invite other people to the group. Can you give "members" invite privileges or take away delete privileges from "moderators"? Will Yahoo restore messages?

Thanks.

  1. Hello. I have my own groups..now if a moderator did that to my group I remove them and make them a member only..it sounds like they knew what they were doing. No once you remove there level they can't do anything to your group any more once you make them a member only again. I would remove this person and just turn them back to a member. No you can't give a member invite privileges unless they are a mod them self. if you need help e-mail at spicemousey@gmail.com

  2. members can not have the invite feature. by default moderators can delete posts (there's no privilege to prevent this) and yahoo will not restore what a moderator deleted.

if your group isn't closed, you can have members share the URL of the group, or subscribe address. if your group is closed, you can have members submit the e-mail addresses to you and you then can invite them

I often wonder how accidents happan. the best thing an owner can do is explain the pages of a group while you're logged on as a moderator, and ask before they go clicking on something.
