  1. It is DEFINITELY up there! The book is beautifully written and the character development is impeccable. If a person didn't know better, they would think it really was a true story based on an interview.  


  2. Sure.  Bukowski, Proust, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Twain, Faulkner, all hacks compared to the genius that is Arthur Golden.

    I can't communicate my contempt for you in a way that would do it justice, so I'll leave it to your imagination.

  3. i hate admit i thought it was semi-factual when i first read it!

    it was really good, my mum and i loved it when we read it 3 or so years ago. i love a book where you can love and hate characters who have a full rounded character. i would not say the best book ever though, time will tell how it is received in the years to come

    it got me reading other japanese based books- the otori saga is another favourite!  

  4. h***s yes! i found the way Golden retells Sayuri's memoirs to be stunning. I couldn't put it down. I have read it 5 times, love it!
