Memorex Lightscribe DVD Recorder will not read any type DVD, but can read only CDS???

Question

My Memorex DVD recorder will NOT read Blank DVDs or DVD Movies. When I put a blank DVD in, it gives me options on what to do, but says not blank DVD-R but a blank CD-R. This DVD Recorder is a multi-formatted recorder. I could read any type of CDS and DVDs. When I go into my computer, it would say CD Drive: E, it used to say Memorex DVD-Ram: E. This DVD burner did not come with an installation disc. You can only install the recorder manually by hand. I want to re-install the DVD drive, but it says it needs some type of disc. It did come with a Nero Essentials disc though. I don't know if I installed Nero properly (if that's the case). Are there any DVD drivers or tools I could get to fix this problem? I got this DVD player on Christmas 2007. It's not even a year old. What can I do to fix this problem? A link or some specific advice would help very much. Please help me!

You could contact Memorex and see if you get any help there.

You may have tried this already, but you could Uninstall the driver from the Device Manager, then reboot and let it find the drive again.
