  1. You can just do a play on words on the units.

    K H D U D C M is kilo hecto deca unit deci cent milli

    can be translated to

Kevin Has Diarrhea Uncle Doesn't Care Much

Unit stands for whatever unit you're using like, meter. Sorry I don't have anything for the other measurements.

  2. one way is to break it down

PREFIXES - Applies to all Units

    Prefix  Multiply by

    milli-         0.001

    centi-        0.01

    deci-         0.1

    deka-       10

    hecto-      100

    kilo-         1000

So learn the above 6 things

    Units          Categories

    meter          - Distance

    liter             - Volume

    gram           - Mass (weight)

    Celsius        -  Temperature

Days, hours, etc. Time            - you know this one

Learn the top 4 things above.

you just need to learn 10 things.

Call it 9+1 as temperature is an odd ball.

Mix the prefixes with the units

    for example

    milli-meter, centi-meter, deci-meter etc.

    milli-liter, centi-liter, deci-liter etc

    milli-gram, centi-gram, deci-gram etc

    Do you see the pattern?

This gives you the 90% solution.

    Temperature is easy

    0 degrees C = freezing

    100 degrees C = boiling

    you have the 95% solution.

Practise will make it all fit.
