My sister asked to borrow my memory card to put in her camera, to transfer three photos to her computer. Then, when she gave it back to me, i placed it correctly back in my Nikon S510 Digital Camera. Now, when Its on image mode it says: "Memory card is write protected."

what does this mean?

and how do i get it back to normal?

is my memory card broken for good?

  1. Some memory cards have tiny little switches that you can turn on for write protect

  2. on the side, theres a slidy thing

push it either up or down =]

  3. The Nikon S510 uses SD Memory cards. Those have a little switch on the side of them which controls write protection. It is easy to accidentally switch it.

To unlock the write protection, make sure that the little switch is flipped towards the side of the card that is inserted into the camera. If you aren't sure what I mean, just try both positions and see which one works.

    Hope that helps!

  4. Have a look at the link below, notice it has the word lock on the side, that's what your problem is, just slide it back the other way and it'll be ok to go again.

  5. NO IT IS NOT BROKEN. YOU JUST HAVE TO CHANGE THE SWITCH OF IT TO BE WRITTEN ON. THE SD CARD HAS A SWITCH ON THE SIDE.

Memory card is write protected- THIS MEANS YOU CANNOT ADD OR DELETE FILES FROM IT. =)
