Question:

Memory card reader?

The USB connection in my Panasonic camera is no longer working (I think I tweaked it somehow). I know it's the camera, not the cord. I love my camera and it's works fine except that I cannot upload the picutes to my computer! If I get a memory card reader, is it the same thing as uploading the photos from my camera via USB? How do I make sure I am getting the right one?

  1. This is not a dire problem, as using a card reader is actually faster than using a wire connecting your camera and computer, to transfer photos. Your memory card is probably an SD card but you need to be sure so as to get the right type of reader. Can you find out what it is and post it here?

    Thank-you,

    Max :)

  2. As long as you get a memory card reader that accepts SD cards, you're good.  The main difference is that a reader won't use up your camera's battery.

I'd suggest looking for one that accepts multiple types of memory cards for only a few dollars more.  That way, you can download from friends' cameras and from any camera you use or own in the future.

  3. On your memory card there is some sort of letter.

    Example: "SD memory card"

That means that you will have to look for an SD card reader. Often card readers can accept different kind of cards, but you will have to be sure.
