Memory cards and video cameras?

Help!!! Okay- I was given a JVC digital video camera. It takes a SD card. However, I can't figure out how to use the SD card for video- instead of pics. It seems to only record video on the DV tapes. Any way to use the SD card instead???? Of course I wasn't given the instructions to this darn thing! Also, can you only use the firewire cable to get the video off the tape- or can the USB do the trick?

  1. That is pretty much it, the Memory cord on a dicital video camera is just for still pictures to make it easier to get them off the camera than the old days when some used the tape to take photos.

As for the firewire that too is set USB 1 isnt fast enough to transfor mowing images on older cameras they used firewire so you are stuck firewire for moving images and USB for still pics,

  2. You can use USB 2 with some camcorders (I don't know which one you've got) but tere are often problems with the audio and video getting out of synch.  It can also be very slow or at a reduced resolution.  Firewire is much more reliable - if your PC hasn't already got one you'll need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'll also need a firewire cable.
